Good evening, good people! Tonight there’s a few things I wanted to share. January is human trafficking awareness month and January 11th is human trafficking awareness day. There are lots of things you can do in your community to raise awareness like having a non profit Coke speak at your school or church, having an awareness or fundraising event of your own, having an anti-human trafficking walk, having a candle-light vigil for the victims, volunteering at a local non profit. With that being said, I wanted to let you know, I am working on organizing my first awareness event. I haven’t worked out the details yet, so more to come later but I’m hoping to have it at my church, a breakfast fundraiser/awareness event for human trafficking event generally speaking and fund raising for a specific local non profit called Triad Ladder of Hope. So, let me give you some info on them in case you are in the area. To begin, if you think you know someone who is a victim of human trafficking or have witnessed human trafficking, the National Trafficking Information and Referral Hotline number to contact is 888-373-7888. Now, about Triad ladder of Hope. They are a great organization. They focus on four factors in fighting human trafficking: awareness, rescue, restoration and re-entry. They have several outreach programs to try to make contact with victims so that they can rescue them. You can go to their website at triadladderofhope.org for more information on those. Then there are victim partnerships where you can donate $30 a month and every cent goes to help the victims and also assists them in their goal of creating a shelter for the victims. Then, they have church partnerships where they go to different churches to speak about what they do in hopes that they will spread the word and partner with them in their efforts. They also work with many different organizations such as: Rowan county response team, triad rapid response team, dept of health and human services (rescue and restore), national Christian women’s job corps, NC coalition against human trafficking, Salvation Army, World Relief, North American mission board, Women’s missionary vision. If you can, please check out their website, donate or get involved. And if you are local, PLEASE watch for more details regarding my event and come out to support this great cause. God bless!
